Durian

Look at this picture

The heavenly king of fruits made into one of the most delicious looking desserts - heaven sent. Do you not just want one very LARGE slice, extra cream on the side, good coffee and you are in H.E.A.V.E.N.

DO NOT BE FOOLED!!!

This fruit is the work of the devil, it has come straight from hell, there is nothing heavenly about it. Nothing at all, it tastes like VOMIT!!!!!!!

When you are on a remote beach in the middle of no where and a little man with his small van on a bicycle approaches you with home made ice cream and it looks like home made strawberry ice cream (your favourite) DO NOT BE FOOLED it is Durian ice cream, one lick and there will be no difference between the taste in it going down and then coming back up again.

Maybe this is how others feel when they taste vegemite.

Rainy Sydney

Our adventure plans thwarted by the rain we were forced to seek shelter in a coffee shop. Thankfully good smoothies and chips were readily available thus making the afternoon a success.

Sign of a good coffee...

Harley

He really is a lovely boy but I suggest if you come over you don't let him kiss you on the lips!

There's a Mouse Outside the House

There is a mouse OUTSIDE the house.

Much to the disgust of both Harley and Rani. Harley because he was not allowed to go outside and eat it and Rani because it meant stepping over the mouse to get inside the house.

So this was the situation for some time.

Rani too scared to come in.

And Harley desperate to get out.

In the end Harley was locked in a room and Rani did one massive leap from the BBQ and was able to make it inside with having any contact with a surface that may have been mouse contaminated.

Bush Walking

Went for a nearly four hour bushwalk thorough the Royal National Park, my initial comment that this looked like a very 'snakey' area was met with laughter, I would have thought that certain people had learnt a lesson after the 'kangaroo and wonbat incident' but clearly not!

The views were spectacular and the walk not too arduous.

We had our lunch here, sandwiches never taste as good as out in the fresh air when you feel like the last people on earth.

On the walk back I fell over myself when I saw this on the path ahead of me. I remained calm (debatable, but at least I didn't scream). A snake. Albeit a very (very) small snake but a snake nonetheless. I was told it was NOT a snake it was a worm. Oh FFS!!!!!

A close up.

Worms don't rear up.

Took a very large cup of tea and pice of banana cake to calm me down.

Down South

Had the most beautiful weekend away down South.

The drive in itself was spectacular, though driving to the B and B late at night took an hour instead of 20 minutes as there were wombats and kangaroos, (I need to add at this point the person in the passenger seat was being quite rude about my speed, or lack there of, and did not believe there would be any wild life around, seconds later we had to avoid a mad kangaroo, I just LOVE being right). The second night I spent some time dodging wombats both dead and alive and a very large white bird that tried to take on the car, really very stressful.

We spent the weekend walking along tracks, sitting by open fires and driving for hours. Oh and battling the noise my car was making, it had been making this sounds for a week or 10 and I thought it would eventually go away, so when in the middle of nowhere a shrill alarm sounded and the oil light came on I had a slight moment of guilt and panic (not helped by the person in the passenger seat making a HUGE deal out of the fact I had not had this noise checked earlier). Turns out I had run out of oil, completely, totally and utterly. Thankfully it was easily solved, well maybe not easily but it was solved and the noise disappeared.

Dinner on Saturday night was spent here. Nothing like an open fire on a cold night and it was COLD!!!

Ah yes and I helped the lovely farmer/host herd his cattle up. The cowboy dude thought I was a complete moron but the feeling was mutual so I guess that makes it ok.

This is where we stayed. The hosts were two of the loveliest people I have come across and made us feel so very welcome. The tea was real, the shower to die for, electric blankets, great breakfast, just perfect, it's not often you have cows, llama's and kangaroos in your backyard.

This is the waterfall from the second day, long walk but worth it for the view.

Working

A little old lady just came into the shop after a baby present. I showed her the dearest little rattle. She turned her nose up at me and said 'you want me to buy THAT'!!!!

*sigh*
